dc.description.abstract"Among all the tribes the idea seemed to be that there were really two persons, the spirit or soul and the body with its animal life and that the body could exist for some time while the soul was absent. This ghost-like self had the same form and visage as the body while they believed in a spirit or soul they do not appear to have thought it was as much a reality as the body. There was a vague misty insubstantiality about it that must have been very unsatisfying to their minds."en_US
