Relander did visit the mound near Maryhill, but it was raining, so he didn't get any pictures to send to Dr. Douglas Osborne, curator of anthropology at Washington State Museum, recipient. The woods are crawling with rock hounds interested in the mound, stimulated by articles in the local papers. Relander needs to know whether or not the mound will be covered by The Dalles Dam water, since the rock hounds said no. The Wanapums rocks are worthy of preservation. Relander asks to know the next time is travelling through, so he can be hospitable.en_US
