dc.description.abstract"I appeared as a witness for the Department of Justice in the Yakima Ceded lands claim case, which is expected to be completed this fall, perhaps at extended hearings at Portland or Seattle rather than Washington, D. C. And I have not wished to jeopardize either the Government's case or that of the Yakimas, providing that it is rightful. Many Wanapums, in the old days, went onto the reservation. In fact, some of the last surviving Wanapums enrolled on the Yakima reservation. But these people have refused to enroll, go onto the reservation etc. because of their very deep religious belief."en_US
