Abstract
"Mrs. Warner's mother and Mrs. Dr. Whitman were the first two women who ever crossed the Rocky range. The party came into this section of the wilderness and after remaining a short time divided company, Rev. Spaulding remaining at Lapwai and Dr. Whitman proceeding to Walla Walla where what is known as the Whitman mission was established."
