Abstract
"The Indians in the immediate neighborhood of the Dalles appear to be friendly disposed and many of them that have been engaged in the war ... now say tha they are tired of it and will not engage in it again. Many of them are in a destitute condition and I hope that by kind and humane treatment we may prevent them from again engaging in the war."
