Abstract
"We are pleased to inform you that Headquarters, Fort Lewis, Washington, has advised us that the foreseeable use of the Yakima Firing Range will not endanger thelives or possessions of the Wanapum Indians who reside in the Priest Rapids area. Acquisition of the land from the legal owners will proceed, but the Wanapum Indians will be given assurance that their camps and burial grounds will be respected by the Department of the Army insofar as military necessity permits. In order that thetroops assigned for training at the range may be cognizant of this commitment, we will have to prepare a map showing the camp area, burial grounds and routes used in connection therewith."
