dc.description.abstractBorn in Hennepin county, Minnesota, in 1869, a son of Frank and Regina (Butz) Ditter. He came in 1888 to North Yakima, where he was a carpenter for one year. He spent two years as an employee of the Nothern Pacific Railroad Company. He worked in the grocery store of C.W. Luther on Front street and later purchased it with John Mechtel. This became Ditter and Mechtel. Later owned a firm called Ditter and BOthwick on Yakima Avenue and Third street.
