Oil drilling rig in Union Gap. Owned by Miocene Petroleum Company when this photo was taken in 1930. Miocene Petroleum Company is listed in Polk's directory from 1929-1931 with the address of 108 N. 2nd. F.E. Shaw, president - Rex L. Ross, vice president - A.N. Carlton, secretary, - F.F. Stubbs, treasurer. On front of rig: N.C. Jannsen Drilling Co. Polks lists owner as Newman C. Jannsen. Located west of Yakima River and north of the old bridge. Near to filling station and dairy farm. Union Gap , WA
