dc.description.abstract"Abolish Yakima Indian Agency. The commissioner of Indian affairs according to recent press dispatches from Washington, has made a recommendation to congress that the office of Indian agent at Fort Simcoe be abolished and that the agency be placed in the hands of a bonded superintendent. The dispatches further state that politics is at the bottom of the matter and that it is done to prevent Senator Foster from making a new appointment to fill the office now occupied by Agent Lynch. The term of Mr. Lynch expires next month and it is well known here that Senator Foster means to or has recommend another man for the place. Under no circumstances, it is said, will he consent to the reappointment of Mr. Lynch. It will be necessary for congress to take affirmative action before the agency can be abolished."en_US
