dc.description.abstract"The hop industry is an important factor in this county. As an experiment a few acres were planted in 1874 by an early settler who was familiar with hop raising in the state of New York. He found the crop was well adapted to the soil and climate of this locality, affording an abundant yield of excellent quality. By degrees the acreage was increased to fifty in 1880, about 275 in 1890 and fully 3,000 in 1896."en_US
