dc.description.abstractFront view of Yakima Theater located at 11 South 2nd. The Yakima Theatre opened August 12, 1931 as the 27th theater that Frederick Mercy, Sr., opened, and the ninth show house in Yakima. According to an article in the Yakima Daily Republic, thenew theater was supposed to have "acoustics designed expecially to bring out the merits of the talkies." Charlie Chaplin's City Lights was shown at the opening. Yakima
