dc.description.abstract"Nine miles from Vantage along the right bank of the Columbia, just above the cave sites, the land rises in a series of steps, cut by Skookumchuck Creek and six more miles is the mouth of Quilomene Creek. This was an area frequented on deer and elk hunting expeditions by the Wanapums from Priest Rapids Higher back Northwesterly are the Colockum mountains. The fir, cedar trees from the Colockum Slopes provided logs for canoe manufactory, as described in Wanapum MS-I."en_US
