dc.description.abstractNaches Avenue looking South, covered with a fresh blanket of snow. Statue is of John Jacob Weisenberger dedicated on July 4, 1902. Erected in memory of the "Fallen" of Company E., 1 Washington U.S. Voluntary Infantry 1898-1899. Major J.J. Weisenberger was in command of the First Battalion, including Company E from North Yakima. Original site of the statue was the center of the intersection of Third Street and Yakima Avenue. J.J. Weisenberger, former mayor of Whatcom, was among the 71 representatives who signed the original Washington State Constitution.
