dc.description.abstract"I have the honor to call your attention to a letter I wrote Feb. 6 in which I stated that Sarah Winnemucca came in with the soldiers who brought the Snake Piute prisoners as interpreter, receiving a salary of $500 per annum and that I must keep her a time until I became acquainted with the Snakes. I request she may be appointed interpreter at a salary of $500 per annum--services beginning February 10, 1879."en_US
