dc.description.abstract"Having taxed the patience of several horsemen rather severely, the saddle and bridle, and a small pack aft, were made fast and we walked through the open door of the stable at the end of a long lariat while the crowd scared him into the street. We wanted to lead the pony to the ferry and not ride him till we were out of town, but the crowd would have made us make the experiment there. We suddenly sprang into the saddle and the cayuse surprised everyone by going off as quietly as an old stage."en_US
