dc.description.abstract"Between 200 and 300 carloads of two year old heifers are to be shipped to Blalock island in the Columbia river below Umatilla this fall for breeding purposes. Blalock island was once a mere sandbank when a company of promoters headed by Dr. N. G. Blalock of Walla Walla took hold of it for irrigation development. Now it is proposed to make the island one of the largest stock ranches in Oregon or Washington. The enterprise is decidedly unique."en_US
