dc.description.abstract"According to Mr. A. J. Splawn's (Ka-mi-akin) or 'History of the Yakima Indians', and 'The History of Washington', by Professor Meany of the University of Washington, James H. Wilbur, more generally known as 'Father Wilbur', was the first Methodist missionary sent into the Yakima Valley. We have also contacted members of families who were among the earliest settlers as well as drawing upon our memories of early days."en_US
