dc.description.abstract"Since the introduction of sheep shearing machines in Eastern Oregon the professional sheep-shearer must invest more money in equipment than with the hand shearing system but they also earn larger incomes and do not work so hard as under the old system. While the power plant is furnished by the sheepmen, yet each shearer is supposed to own his individual machine including comber and knife and must keep his machine in proper condition."en_US
