dc.description.abstract"The great artificial rivers, the artesian wells shooting columns of water into the air, the marvelous results of irrigation on sage brush lands were all sources of wonderment. Side by side in many places were the sage brush with its dark grey and dingy monotony and the emerald alfalfa yielding four crops a year, cherry trees bearing in two years, pears, peaches, winter apples and grapes. Abundance is found on all sides and there is enough to supply a city the size of Chicago when the demand is made."en_US
