Abstract

"Even 50 years ago Yakima county was regarded as one of the largest and most important divisions in the state and irrigation was the reason. Private initiative and enterprise of the hard-working old-timers started the development by putting through canals which brought water to the sage-brush lands and converted them into rich acreages."
