dc.description.abstract	"The president has signed the Panama canal bill and by virtue of this act the bill becomes a law, providing that the French company which assumes to own the unfinished ditch at the isthmus is able to convey a clear title. In case of failure to do so to the satisfaction of the president, that official may, according to the provisions of the law, call the whole deal off and open up anew negotiations for the building of the canal by way of the Nicaragua route."	en_US
