"One of the greatest needs of this thriving town is an institution that will afford opportunities for higher education. What is wanted is not a mere academy--for our splendid high school answers that purpose--but a non-sectarian college with a university curriculum. Such an institution is a necessity here, not only from an educational but from an economic standpoint."
