Abstract

"I have no doubt that much that I have heard has been greatly exaggerated but as you may suppose I feel much anxiety owing to the unsettled state of our Indian relations to be well informed as possible of the truth of and the progress of current events among those turbulent savages with whom you are dealing so that when necessary I may be prepared to meet any emergency."
