"Q-Do you consider yourself a Wanapum? A-Well, I am descended from them. Of course, my folks was related with people--in fact, all these people that call themselves Wanapum are kin of mine. Kiutus Jim, cross: ..you say your father and mother are Wanapum? A-my kin folks. Q-Is that through your father's mother? A-My mother's mother. Q-Your mother's mother? A-Yes, my mother's mother. Q-Do you consider yourself Wanapum? A-Well, yes, on account of the Yakimas has some blood, all of the blood of all of these people and we have intermarried so long and live in the localities and therefore you can't find true blood in any one district, it would be impossible."
