Abstract

"It will become evident that there is a greater mixture of bloods on the Yakima Reservation than on either the Umatilla or Colville. This, I believe, has made the commonly called Yakimas suspicious of outside contacts, of each other and even of their numerous relatives. It seems most intense among those closely connected with each other--in many cases the leaders themselves. Some still retain the old Indian religious beliefs and superstitions, some have turned strictly modern, and others are of a strange mixture, indecisive."
