Abstract
"As announced by the Yakimas in their council meetings, and on the basis of their fishery claims, the Yakimas hold that they own, as a tribe, a major share of the fishery rights at Celilo Falls. They cite the treaty of 1855 as evidence of this. In their negotiations, the Yakimas contend that the Umatillas had no traditional fishery rights at Celilo Falls. They also contend that the Warm Springs tribes surrendered their rights there in years past."
