Abstract
"The preparations for the expedition into the Winnass Country being nearly completed the following arrangements and movements will be made. 1st Lieut Hiram Deyer 4th Inf in addition to his duties as aa rmand aac S will perform the duties of adjutant on the expedition. Bvt. Sergt. James B. Mulholland of H Company 4th Infantry is selected to perform the duties of sergeant major for this battalion. He will be obeyed and respected accordingly."
