Abstract
"Fort Simcoe was planned as a four company post and became a dot on the military map in 1856. Selection of Mool-mool as the location by Col. George Wright, ninth infantry, at the close of his summer pacification campaign that took him from Ft. Dalles to the Wenatchee river and back. Personal reconnaissance convinced him, he reported that it was the most desirable position for a station for the winter."
