Abstract
"On the basis of tradition he infers that originally there was in Oregon east of the Cascades, first, Salish speaking peoples on the south bank of the Columbia; south of them were Molala and Cayuse in a band of territoriy from the Cascade Range, or west of it, eastward to the Snake river; and still farther south the Sahaptins lying with the Cascade Range to the west and the Klamath tribe to the south."
