"Owing to the difficulties incident to crossing the Cascade range of mountains you will avail yourself of the steam boat facilities from this place to the Dalles of the Columbia. At that point you are directed to make purchases of such subsistence as will be necessary for yourself and employees not exceeding twenty in number."
