"You will probably be interested in knowing that I just bought a nice painting of Chief Joseph today. It was done by E. A. Burbank,- an oil on canvas. Burbank has printed at the top (to the left) 'Chief Joseph, Nez Perces 189' and at the bottom he signed it,- E. A. Burbank, Nes Pilem, Washington. On the back, in Burbank's hand is written, 'Chief Joseph, Nez Perce Indian. Home at Nes Pilem, Washington. E. A. Burbank.' Size 10x12 inches."
