Abstract
"I am afraid you will be disappointed in the amount of help and contribution I can give to the Historical Society, because nearly all of my father's material has already been distributed. Between the time of his death in Sept. '31, and our removal from California in Jan. '39, Dr. Jones and I did our conscientious best to sort and dispose of his books and papers according to his expressed wishes, and our own judgment, and the advise of such friends as Francis P. Farquhar, Col. White, and others."
