Abstract
Address was given at the 49th Annual Meeting of Texas Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association in Dallas, Texas. "In preparing a speech for oil people, it would be natural to limit it to problems of direct concern to the oil industry. It becomes obvious, however, that the decline of individual ethics and responsible behavior, accompanied by a rise in selfishness and the desire for special privilege, are germane to all sections of American life. It is with this context that 'The Great Hippie Society' was conceived."
