Item Directions to an Oregon Archaeological Society site, known as the Herzog Dig.(UNPUBLISHED, 1964) UnknownDirections are to Herzog Ranch and Felida, and discusses moorage. "The walk from the ranch to the site is about 3/4 mile, but half of it is a steep climb out, so travel light. Parking, trailer camping, launching, boat rental and moorage are available at Felida." Reference found, by digitizer, to a publication "Shoto Clay: Figurines and Forms from the Lower Columbia," (OAS Publication #4) which talks about a site excavated by OAS members on the Herzog Site between 1964 and 1966, which found clay artifacts from a previously unknown society not related to modern Native people in the area. See EPM-071-06-003 for a related document.Item Rules governing the Herzog Dig for the years 1964, 1965, and 1966.(UNPUBLISHED, 1964) UnknownLists the ten rules for the site given by the Oregon Archaeological Society. Ends with, "it would be well if all archaeological material taken from this site would be held in perpetuity, as it is doubtful another such site will ever be excavated in the lower Columbia area. Good Luck!" See EPM-071-06-002 for a related document.Item Stone age art: Columbia River petroglyphs.(UNKNOWN, 1955) UnknownThis folder, issued by The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, includes a pamphlet entitled "Petroglyphs, Fact and Legend," and six double-sided cards with photographs of petroglyphs and information listed about each one.
