Francisco Hermenegildo Tomás Garcés Statue

Garces Circle Statue in Bakersfield, CA. A Works Relief Program art piece made by John Palo-Kangas in 1939. It depicts Father Garces, the first white person to enter what is now Kern County. The statue itself is carved of limestone with a granite base and is over 22' tall. In 1955, the statue was moved to accommodate a freeway expansion. Photographer: Clifford "Click" Relander.

Travel Air Biplane with German Paint Job

Biplane made by Travel Air with a German World War I paint job. This particular plane, NC877, was based out of Southern California, so the paint job could be for use in movie.
