Gen. Sam Jones without my knowledge or consent, and placed by him in charge of Capt. E. A. Semple, whom I had sent for another purpose, viz to superintend the construction of a very large prison, which am directed by the Secretary of the War to have built. Captain Semple represents that these officers were thrown suddenly on his hands, giving him no time for preparation, and that he is in want of almost everything necessary for their accommodation."NO KNOWN COPYRIGHT The organization that has made the Item available reasonably believes that the Item is not restricted by copyright or related rights, but a conclusive determination could not be made.
