The priest who helped establish the Catholic mission, Father Jean Charles Pandosy has left his name and imprint in the Yakima Valley. But the priest's later labors and his death in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia have gone almost unrecognized in the Yakima Valley. The old mission in the Ahtanum, established by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate was abandoned eight years after it was built, when the Indians became hostile.
