Annie Billy was a medicine woman, historian, and warrior, who was present for the 1855 Walla Walla Treaty as a child, fought in the Indian Wars, notably stealing ammunition from enemy camps and was wounded in battle. She saved the Yakama Nation in the 1950s when the government considered buying out the reservation system and getting rid of the Yakama Reservation. Her recital of Yakama history to government officials helped in persuading them to not get rid of the reservation.7.5"W x 9.5"HPhotographIN COPYRIGHT This Item is protected by copyright and/or related rights.
