Smoke Tanning
Abstract
A light colored piece of buckskin is suspended over a smokey fire from a stick or straight branch that has been positioned to hold the buckskin in the path of the smoke. There is a small dark figure of a woman crouched over the fire, moderating the flame and moisture to control the tanning process. Missing material in the upper left corner, with chips and voids around the perimeter.
