Abstract
Three letters sent to Laura D. Wilck. The first is enclosed with a postal note to cover the cost of returning the manuscript, "Adam and Eve in an Apple Orchard." He discusses his reasoning for including alcoholism in the story. The second letter is his response to Wilck's comments on his manuscript, including her suggestion to retitle it "The Lonely Road." He also discusses his cowriter at length and his ties to Steinbeck. The third letter is a reminder that he still hasn't gotten his manuscript back.
