Abstract
Portrait of Major Robert Selden Garnett (1817-1863), who directed the construction of Fort Simcoe. Fought later for the Confederacy. In the Civil War, he was reprimanded by General Stonewall Jackson for retreating in a battle. He then was the pallbearer for Jackson at his funeral. He then was killed in action during the Battle of Gettysburg.
