Abstract
Picture of a picture, Crockett Blockhouse near Fort Casey State Park. Col. Walter Crockett built the blockhouse on Whidbey Island in anticipation of the 1850s wars with Native Americans. No conflict ever reached the blockhouse, though. The blockhouse is not in its original place as it was moved in 1938 to a place more suitable for tourists. The blockhouse was constructed in 1857, despite the 1855 inscription, which is when the Native American wars began. The original photographer is unknown.
