Abstract

"Several other hop growers, it is reported, propose to plow up their yards this season, among others being the Wade yards. The Wiley Bros. of Tampico have leased their yards for five years to eastern parties. It is not probably that the coming season will see any increase in the hop acreage as there is little likelihood that new yards will be planted and it is known that some will go out of cultivation and others out of existence. The acreage has been gradually decreasing for several years past, the value of the land having increased to a point which made it impractical to produce hops thereon, especially at the prices that have been prevailing."
