Abstract
"I gain a different perspective than incidental scanners of history may gain from this 'incident.' It appears far more than the attack upon a white man on Whidby's Island, has real historical importance in my estimation and opens a big field of investigation, picture possibilities etc. Besides the governors involved, there is the President of the United States, the Secretary of War, Secretary of the Navy, various naval vessels etc. and a far wider field of history than is contained on Whidby's Island."
