Oblates of Mary Immaculate - correspondence - Transcript (part 5).
Abstract
"Last Sunday a man named Torrell came to ask to rent our house near the bridge. He had abandoned his claim situated six miles from Olympia on the road to Nesqually. He told us that he had seen many savages ready to shoot him. Happily enough a squirrel frightened at the sight of the savages made Torrell know the danger menacing him. The same man tells us that a month ago a savage by the name of Stiatie told him to abandon his claim in the country for the next moon, everything would be burned without exception. It is for this reason that Torrell came to Olympia. He is the father of eight children and all his future was in his claim and in his arms."
