Abstract

"Had Samuel Hill lived at another time, there would have been no Stonehenge replica built in gigantic proportions overlooking the Columbia River to the south. Maryhill Museum of Fine Arts would never have been founded. The good roads movement would have been slower to awaken. Many things he dreamed and created would not have been. But any age in which Samuel Hill lived would have been enriched by his life and endowed by productiveness of a man often misunderstood in his single purpose and many times domineering through intensity. Samuel Hill was a dreamer. But at the point dreamers awoke and forgot, as they usually do, he kept on dreaming."
