Abstract

"Painted Rocks Septris Patahanum As for the rocks themselves, jutting from the sheer precipice away up in the blue sky above--cold and emotionless though they are, they sometimes weep for the very sadness of it. But they do not often appeal to the passer by in this womanly fashion, because that erases the garish paint which tells, in Indian hieroglyphics the story once fresh in the minds of the early settlers of the beautiful Yakima valley but now forgotten in the bush rush of tilling and garnering the sheaves of the harvesttime."
