Abstract
"We used to take horses by trail to Dalles, put them on boat and deliver them to Troutdale, this side of Portland. We also used to go to the coast with horses, over the Naches to Government Meadows and Green Water and came out at Buckley. The last horses I handled. Sold and shipped about 400 head, roan Belgian, shipped 16 carloads to Montana and sold them for $80 a head.
