Abstract

"On the 3d instant the Depot on the Umatilla River was broken up and the troops proceeded by the immigrant trail and the Blue Mountains. On the 7th inst. the whole train had attained the highest on the south side of the Grande Ronde where the train halted for necessary repairs to the train. Nathan Olney, esq. Indian Agent for the Snake Indian district joined the command at the camp with a small pack train of provisions to avail himself of the protection of the troops during a visit to his district."
