Abstract
"Yakima schools closed Friday, pupils and teachers celebrating the even with songs and games. Parents were present in number to enjoy the exercises. 'Apple and potato day' which has become a permanent feature was observed and made the occasion of generously remembering the needy sick and poor. Vegetables of all kinds, fruit, flour, meat, money and clothing bore testimony of the hundreds of kindly and generous hearts in our schools."
